Someone sent this in yesterday, but we were too busy scraping tar off the beach to post anything. Though we must confess, this whole conversation on Goodmama’s Facebook fan page cracked us up. Utterly worth it’s weight in chucklebucks, read it here for yourself.

It’s an awesome collection of comments altogether, showcasing some of our favorite insanity in the world of GM and riddled with gems like
But in all honesty, they really don’t hold for too long. I have to change them at least every 2 hrs, they sometimes are even damp quicker than that.
Seriously? Complaining that a diaper gets… WET… because your baby peed more frequently than some mythical two-hour window invented by mad scientists in a unicorn factory? Dude, change the kid! Wet? Damp? Full-on poopy? CHANGE THE BABY!
No diaper – really, we mean NO DIAPER – is meant to be left on your precious babe’s backside once it’s been befouled. While we’re pleased Sooz took a few minutes of precious kiki time to point this out to her legion of rabid fashionista followers, we’re not surprised at the fact that she seems to think normal people are consistently able piss money away on “show off” items, such as Goodmama One diapers, to not really contain the noxious emissions of the little people in their lives.
In short? Change the kid when it makes, whatever it makes. Oh, and the One from TGM? It really isn’t a brilliant AIO diaper by anyone’s definition of the term.

But in all honestly, the diapers are supposed to be somewhat functional. Sooz flat out admits they are more for show than they are to catch pee. Ummmmm, isn’t that what a diaper is supposed to do. If she had half a brain she’d realize catch pee first, look good second. Or at least that’s how I prefer our diapers.
People post all the time about how they prepped their Ones and they still leak, wtf?, etc, glad to see Suzanne finally flat out saying it’s not an absorbant diaper!
I have never understood the whole “diapers should last for __ # of hours” conversation. If the diaper’s wet, then I change it. It doesn’t matter if the diaper’s only been on for 5 minutes. It gets changed. As far as Ones go, I’ve never had a problem with them wicking or leaking unless we use them overnight. Quite frankly, I’m not an AIO or AI2 fan, anyway. We only have a handful of them. I very much so prefer fitteds or prefolds and wool.
I’ve never had leak issues with our Ones. But, I also change him as soon as he is wet/dirty.
Kid “wahh!!”
Mommy-”Sorry! It’s only been 30 minutes! You still have an hour and a half left!”
I inquired on that FB thread whether GM company had identified the problem that seems to be causing an overwhelming number of the Ones to wick or leak…and whether they had a plan to improve upon the diaper to make it a more reliable AI2. I haven’t seen a response.
I personally believe that if you have a product that has many concerns with its functionality (not all, but many), that the responsible thing to do would be to try and identify what the problem is and attempt to fix it.
But that’s my personal opinion. It’d be nice to hear that they were working on improvements, being responsive to their customers. It’d be nice.
then she needs to put in the description, “Primarily for decorative purposes. Change baby in to a better diaper before hitting Target.”
What happens when you run out of decorative diapers because she keeps jacking up the prices?
I am new to cloth diapering, but I was wondering how long these women keep wet diapers on their babies? I thought if it was wet or full of pooh you change it, you just don’t leave it on because the diaper is cute.
If Suz was half as intelligent as she thinks she is when it comes to making diapers she’d realize that diapers cannot be made with velour on top of PUL. The little holes from the sewing machine needle cause the leaks and no amount of washing/drying on hot will close them. There needs to be some other type of material to wick the moisture back to the soaker i.e. suede cloth, fleece, micro fleece… etc.
She should know better… shes only been selling $30,000 worth of diapers a month? Maybe if she wants to keep her customers she should start making them happy.
Wow, I hadn’t realized we were looking for a magic number before changing the baby. Guess it’s a good think I don’t waste my money on GMs, but stick to my $2-prefolds, since it sounds like they last just about as long. Unless it’s a night time diaper and my baby sleeps through the night, I’ve never been a fan of the ‘how much crap and urine can I pack into a diaper before it needs changing’ conversations. I just feel bad for the babies.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds this very gross. Really if the baby is wet change them, don’t wait and see how soaked it can get before you change them or how much poop before it leaks out. nasty
Weren’t these branded as being able to last all through the night? I think that was the point of the “only 2 hours” complaints. I know that unless my kids get themselves up, I’m not going in their rooms at 3am to change them. Maybe that’s gross to some – I don’t know.
I posted a comment on there b/c she asked how long they would last. I was honest b/c I can’t even use them on a trip into town b/c if my son pees more than once on the way he would be soaked and so would his car seat. I normally use mine when my son has a rash and needs to be changed frequently. These were marketed as being absorbent like their fitteds but without needing a cover. They are def not. I have to use extra soakers to go anywhere b/c every mom knows that you can’t always tell as soon as your kid pees and in these diapers everything gets soaked
You all talk like you’ve never diapered anyone but newborns and small infants. My 22 month old will pee ONCE, and all at once there is pee running down his leg from these diapers. It never happens with any other diapers we use. I blame it on the fact there is zero absorbancy between that PUL and that thin layer of OBV and the leg elastic on the inside which is showing to the outside, is OBV. That skinny ass soaker isn’t enough to hold older baby/toddler urine in.
Obviously I change my child’s diaper once it’s wet, but I shouldn’t have to clean urine from the rug/floor/bed sheets every time my son pees. And I use the Piddle Poddle cadillac AIOs with NO issues. Overnight, for naps, etc. They have an extra layer and are linded in fleece.
The Goodmama ONES are kind of a joke and they need to be redesigned.
