Ready to get your bid on?

A while ago, some members on the GM forum banded together to try and help a mama in need – Erin Berky, who lost her husband in Afghanistan on September 12. Their hard work is about to start paying off – the Charity Shop on Hyena Cart will be dedicated to their fundraising efforts, starting Wednesday, November 11 at noon EST.

Charity Shop opens on HC this Wednesday at 12pm EST

Items are for the most part being auctioned off, though there are some Buy It Now listings and at least one set of Goodmama diapers will be raffled. The items have been donated by ordinary people from the online diapering community, as well as WAHMs and larger brands well-known to the world of cloth diapers.

Auctions sure to attract a lot of attention (and hopefully PayPal) include: a three-day auction for 8oz of Granny Smith by Dashing Dachs; 8oz of Selah’s to die for First Love; and the auction for a complete Goodmama storybook set.

Other awesome items up for grabs include a YYMN slot with Megan of Peace Love Wool, a starter cloth set from Homestead Emporium, a set of six Amy Butler GMs, Classic Crankypants, yarn from Family Roots, Mosaic Moon and Nurturing Threads, loads of diapers, woolens, soft shoes, hats, accessories and even a raffle for a gift card from Godiva chocolates. Something for everyone, indeed. And all the proceeds go to benefit Erin and her beautiful son.

The shop will stock again on November 18, we’ll let you know when previews are ready!

Just a quick update that the Goodmama storybook set will be a raffle style sale instead of auction now.

Raffles are awesome! It lets every mama participate and have a chance and has the potential to raise a lot more funds.

    LOL at Jess’s photography listing..

things she won’t do…give you a CD, give you the rights to the pics, travel further than 30 miles, let you print them w/ anyone else

    Soooooooooo generous

Gonna have to pass on that fabulous opportunity.

That’s pretty much what any professional would do, though. She’s donating her talents like everyone else and I am extremely thankful to her.

Unfortunately, dear, I don’t live anywhere near Miss J.

She could offer the prints for free, though, but it looks like she is not doing that. Or heck, even load them up on Mpix and let the customer print as many as they want. When donating something, it just looks rude to go on about all the stuff you DON’T get, you know?

My dh was at the same FOB with Brian Berky, and he was kind of shaken up when I showed him the fundraiser last night. My dh was with the group that was leaving, and Berky was with the group that was coming in. Dh was one of the last of his PRT group to leave, so they were there are the same time. He told me last night to buy generously today. I never participate in fundraisers, it’s just not my thing, but I’m going to hit this one up pretty hard.

she’s already giving up an hour of her time to take the photos, driving to and from the shoot, time in post-processing. Maybe she’s not in a position to buy prints for the auction winner too. and really people, have you seen the quality of her photos? even at $75 for a one-hour shoot, she is very-reasonably priced.

if you don’t want to bid, fine, but what is rude is when you make fun of or put down a donation. If in doing so, you discourage people from bidding, that only hurts Erin, not Jessica.
